What we can do for you
A Common Sense Approach
Our investment aims are clear - they are your aims, which we
have to clearly understand and keep up to date.
However, we have some simple guidelines which we find provide
longer term stability for portfolios than we usually find in the
investment management industry.
So our aims are as follows:
- above average performance with
- below average risk at
- below average cost.
Who tends to use 7IM?
We look to attract clients who want to invest for the long term (typically 10 years plus) and tend to appeal to those who are looking for a safe pair of hands. We want our clients to be able to sleep soundly at night, knowing that we are not the sort of investment management company that will take huge risks with their money to chase performance. Steady performance over the long term will win out.
Discretionary Service
For our Discretionary Service, where you and your financial
adviser work closely with one of our own Client Advisors, the
minimum investment is £200,000. This gives you access to
professional investment advice when you need it and access to view
your portfolios online, updated daily.
With the Discretionary Service, each client and their Financial
Adviser is allocated a 7IM Client Advisor, who is available to help
the Financial Adviser plan the right investment portfolio to meet
the goals of your financial plan and attend meetings with you as
required. They produce a personalised investment proposal for you
at the outset and then monitor the investments, answer questions
from you and your Financial Adviser and provide the 7IM view on
markets. So you have access to professional investment advice when
you need it and access to view your portfolios online, updated
daily.

7IM Funds
If you want to use the range of 7IM funds, your Financial
Adviser can buy these for you; they have a minimum investment of
£1,000. Any of the funds can be placed inside any tax wrappers that
your financial adviser thinks are appropriate for you.

funds.
What Can Clients See Online?
Every day we update our website with news items and articles
that we think might be useful for you. We update the fact
sheets that relate to our funds monthly.
We also update our client portfolios for those clients who use our
Discretionary service, or whose Financial Advisers are using our
platform to trade. You can see at a glance a summary of your
accounts and then can drill down in to each portfolio to see the
actual holdings and the transactions that have taken place. You can
see an 'X-Ray' of the asset allocation of your holdings and the
performance in chart form of individual portfolios or as a
whole.
What other elements of service does 7IM offer?
If you have a portfolio of investments with another manager but
are considering moving it to 7IM's Discretionary Service, you will
hopefully have made gains in that portfolio and you may not
necessarily want to realise those gains by selling the holdings to
make the transfer - the gains may affect your tax position.
We can take the transfer straight into our 'Managed Out' account
without your current manager having to sell, and then we can manage
out any tax liabilities over a period of time that suits you. We
can also park any holdings that you may wish to keep for
sentimental reasons, or if you have director's holdings for example
that you must keep for a period of time. You can discuss this
with your 7IM Client Advisor at any time.
As part of the Discretionary Service we also provide you with a
Composite Tax Voucher (CTV) to attach to your tax return,
six-monthly reports showing your holdings, the transactions that
have taken place and how your investments have performed. You can
of course ask for this report from your 7IM Client Advisor at any
time - or generate it yourself from the 7IM website.
